About the Portal
What is a portal?
A portal is a site that serves as an entry point to the Web. It guides users who are looking for general or thematic information. Generally, a portal has a search engine and provides links to a range of resources or services.
|
Why a population health research portal?
The mission of the Population Health Research Portal is to draw up an inventory, organize and centralize scientific knowledge and new research about population health in order to make that information more accessible.
Linked to many interesting sites on population health, this portal showcases what is current in the research milieu. Thanks to a monitoring team, it keeps constant watch for events, publications, training courses and funding opportunities in the area of population health.
|
Who can use it?
Designed primarily for researchers, specialized journalists and those responsible for health network policy and programs, this information hub provides individuals and organizations interested in any theme related to population health with several shortcuts to useful documents.
|
What does it contain?- A document base
Equipped with a search engine, the portal’s document base makes it possible to use keywords to access a detailed list of studies, synopses, reports and articles.
- An electronic newsletter
Published twice a month, the PopHealth newsletter provides subscribers with the latest news on population health, new publications and events in the field.
- A practical information section
In addition to reporting on research, the portal provides access to a wide range of practical and quick links to scientific organizations, networks and research teams, as well as tools and projects related or relevant to population health.
|
What is the portal’s connection to the QPHRN?
The portal is an initiative of the Quebec Population Health Research Network, and more specifically, its Knowledge-Sharing Axis. In the current context of information overload, this axis focused on the development of a portal as a promising strategy for knowledge sharing. The portal helps users gather relevant information and in doing so promotes knowledge sharing based on population health research.
The portal is not the QPHRN’s institutional site. For more information on the Network’s members, operations and research axes, visit:
