Geomatics
This section showcases health geomatics research. It features scientific conferences of interest to health geomatics research, highlights current research projects in Quebec and offers a comprehensive list of publications identified by the portal’s intelligence system.
In a Nutshell
Health geomatics makes it possible to better understand the links between the environment and health. It applies to socio-geographic themes, which include spatial and attributive variables, such as access to care or social inequalities in health. In general, geomatics involves the collection, analysis, distribution and use of geographic data related to the world in which we live.
Using mapping to graphically represent research findings, geographic information systems (GIS) are invaluable tools for transferring knowledge. They provide a visual of the impact of certain decisions and ultimately contribute to better population health planning.
