First-Line Services

This section showcases first-line services research. It features scientific conferences of interest to first-line services research, highlights current research projects in Quebec and offers a comprehensive list of publications identified by the portal’s intelligence system.

In a Nutshell

As the first point of contact between the population and the health network, first-line healthcare constitutes a range of care and services delivered to the community and directly to where people live.

Population health research is interested in first-line services because the way services are delivered by the health system has a direct impact on the improvement of population health. Moreover, first-line services are a major concern at present due, in large part, to the population’s growing expectations of the health system despite its problems of service coordination and integration. The development of knowledge on modes of organization, accessibility, continuity and coordination of care, and on the intensification of prevention within the network, is necessary if we are to respond to the collective need to reorganize and bolster first-line services.
